"I
tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of my brothers,
you did for me." (Matt:25:40)
What
an awesome and blessed day we had Saturday, November 20, 2004. Four
men from the Men's Ministry Service and Evangelism Group of West
Valley Christian Church, along with two of our wives drove to Whittier
to take part in distributing 50,000 lbs. of food (as well as new
clothes, diapers, office supplies, toys, household goods etc.) to
hundreds of needy families in the area. The group responsible for
this endeavor is Heart of Compassion, led by Pastor
Eric Tietz, who’s dedicated his life to feeding (physically
AND spiritually) the less fortunate. They begin with a sermon sharing
God’s Word, after which an endless stream of families-wheeling
shopping carts, dragging boxes and bags, are provided with all they
need to get them through the days ahead. The entire program is made
possible by in-kind donations from corporations, area stores, grocery
chains etc. all inspired by Pastor Eric’s tireless devotion
to the underprivileged. For us, it was a rare privilege to share
in the Christian generosity and service of these dedicated volunteers
doing Christ’s work.
